PURPOSE :

correction of the position of the auricle of the ear, possibly modeling of the auricle or making it smaller in the case of big differences in proportions between the left and right auricles.

PROCEDURES :

anesthesia: local anesthesia
procedure: the procedure involves changing the angle of the auricle's attachment to the skull, which often also includes changing the shape of the auricle. A small incision is made behind the auricle of the ear, excess skin is removed, and the cartilage may be modeled.

POST OPERATIVE CARE :

CIn the first 24-hour period post-operatively, there is a lot of pain, requiring painkillers. The stitches are removed 10 days after the procedure. For the first month, minimum, it is necessary to wear a headband overnight to prevent accidental bending of the auricles, which may neutralize the effects of the surgery.

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS:

hemorrhage, hematoma, infection, visible scar (requiring correction)

LENGTS OF TIME PATIENT MUST REMAIN AFTER THE PROCEDURE:

outpatient basis

TIME NEED FOR RECUPERATION:

Return to normal activities is rapid, although it can be up to 10 days because of the necessity of wearing bandages for that period of time.
